A little bit about us
Keough Farm is located in the rural county of Lunenburg in southern Virginia. After searching for almost 2 years, we came across this little piece of heaven and had to have it. Keough Farm became ours in January of 2006. It was originally used as a cattle and tobacco farm. The original homestead still stands on a hill in the pasture overlooking the property. It dates back to the late 1800's and is made of logs cut from trees right here on the farm. The Tucker Family were the original owners of the farm and their family cemetery is located in a cedar grove right near the homestead. We are always coming across antique farm equipment buried in the trees.
We have 46 1/2 acres of lush, green rolling pasture, thick tree groves and an ice cold stream that meanders along the back. Because our farm is completely surrounded by woods, we are host to many different types of wildlife other than our own barnyard animals. It is not unusual to find a flock of wild turkeys hanging out by the pond or a couple of deer bounding across the pasture. Our fully stocked pond is also home to beautiful green frogs, countless birds and other interesting aquatic creatures.
Our two boys, Lucian and Gary Steven, absolutely love living in the country. They discover and learn something new and exciting every day. They are learning to take care of chickens, guineas, horses and goats. They are learning how to cut and bale hay, grow vegetables and fruits, and how to respect nature at its best. We go on nature walks, hike through the woods, feed the fish, climb trees, star gaze, have bonfires and just enjoy the fresh air.
Thank you for visiting us and we hope you will keep coming back for more.
